Jonathan Miller: the autumn tour continues

Sir Jonathan Miller- doctor, satirist, writer, sculptor and director of theatre, opera and film- brings his autumn tour to Peterborough this evening (Mon October 30).

Miller rose to fame in the early 1960s when, alongside Peter Cook, Dudley Moore and Alan Bennett, he co-wrote and starred in the groundbreaking satirical stage revue Beyond The Fringe. The show redefined the boundaries of comedy — launching a  legacy that has stretched from Monty Python to Saturday Night Live.

Miller would soon go on to edit the BBC’s flagship arts programme Monitor and became associate director of the National Theatre. Directing drama and opera, he has enjoyed a stellar career in modern theatre.  He has, among other things, presented television programmes on science and medicine, directed opera at Glyndebourne, the Met and La Scala, produced stage works at the National or Old Vic, lectured, written and sculpted.  As a television presenter Miller also helped popularise science on the small screen. Today he complains that the dumbed down world of 21st century TV does not appear to be  very interested in him. However he was recently the subject of a major BBC2 Arena profile. Away from showbusiness he has continued to work in medicine and is an expert in neuropsychology.

See him tonight in An Audience With Jonathan Miller at The Key Theatre, Embankment Road, Peterborough PE1 1EF
